This project was inspired by athletic apparel companies having brands within their brand for individual sports. I noticed Under Armour had dabbled in mixed martial arts by creating a few shirts for Georges St. Pierre and also having compression shorts and shirts that are used by these athletes but not marketed towards the sport as much as it could.

The main athlete for this brand is Georges St. Pierre, so I wanted to create a line of walkout and fight gear that could be marketed towards both athletes and fans.

I decided to design the Under Armour MMA brand with its own logo much like the Under Armour Hunting brand. The MMA logo incorporates the Under Armour logo but inside it is the cage pattern that is used by just about every MMA organization surrounding the mat they fight on.

The walkout gear includes two walkout shirts, fight shorts, and compression shorts. The idea behind the design would be to focus on his home providence of Quebec and how he’s proud to represent the area. This was done by using the Quebec flag and it’s colors to create the gear. I also wanted to create something similar to the “Mariflage” that is used for apparel representing Maryland, by using elements of the Quebec flag to create it’s own pride pattern.

This design could also be used on rash guards/compression shirts, gloves, pads, walkout hat, walkout jacket/pants, mouth guard, gi, etc.

I also wanted to create a Maryland MMA shirt to promote the sport to the state since there really aren’t to many people in Maryland that watch MMA or compete in it (there is only one UFC fighter that fights out of Maryland; Mike Easton). So I went with the same concept just using the Maryland flag instead.
